How Not to be Starstruck by Portia Macintosh Review

Description

Nicole Wilde’s life is one of sell-out gigs, bunking on tour buses, trashing hotels and partying with the band all night long. But she’s not in the band. She is a music journalist, paid to be the world’s greatest groupie– and she loves it!
Nicole has the party lifestyle – and the hangovers to prove it – but no one stops her in the supermarket on a bad hair day. Until she is papped in an incriminating position with recently married mega-star Dylan King of The Burnouts and the tabloids start hounding her. This isn’t so fun. Especially when her make-up is a mess and she hasn’t yet had a chance to clean her teeth.
Dylan accuses her of ruining his marriage. His handsome PR agent, Charles, calls her a tart. She has to take gorgeous Luke from Two For the Road to hospital after a drug incident. And she’s dropped her mobile phone in the bath! Too much celebrity lifestyle for one week? Time to slow down and take stock? Maybe for somebody else. But Nicole Wilde is going to come out fighting!

REVIEW

I loved loved loved this one! I enjoyed Nicole's out look on life! She was not ready to be a "grown up" and wanted to still be able to have the time of her life. Some of her best friends are rockstars and why not go on tour with them when they want you to right?? She always wanted to be famous but when she gets her 15 mins of stardom it is not at all for the reasons she wanted it to be.
I know this is a huge side not but my god I hated Dylans hooker of a wife and her friends ok now that I have that out of my system we can move on.

Luke and her friendship was something in it self. It seemed like no matter how hard they try or how hard they like each other they just cant get on the same page and its kinda sad. This is a crazy, wild, fun, sexy, and extremely awesome book! I cant wait to see what Portia has next for us all. I am sure she wont disappoint!

Love Always, Kate by D.Nichole King Review

Love Always, Kate
Author d. Nichole King
Publisher: Limitless Publishing

Dear Diary,
Leukemia’s been my life since I was eleven. Now, six years later, I want my life back. Only I’m not sure what that is.

The test results came back today. 22,000. Which means I’m officially out of remission—again.

I have three options:
1. Another round of chemo.
2. A super-new experimental drug.
3. Dump it all— forget the meds and treatments and enjoy the time I have left.

I think I know what I want.

Then, in walks Damian, changing everything.

I mean, everything.

He’s got his own set of issues. It binds us together, you know? We understand what it’s like to lose what matters most in seconds.

Still, the last thing I need is to have someone else to crush if I can’t fight hard enough. And the last thing he needs is someone else to grieve.

Never mind. I’m down to two options now.

Somehow I know that whichever one I choose, the result will be the same. With the sand in my hourglass seeping to the bottom, I hope there’s enough left to show Damian that life’s worth living. Worth fighting for.

Worth dying for.

Love Always,
Kate

REVIEW

Wow this book was one that I will not soon forget, it was loving, sunny, sad, crazy, and heart breathtakingly devastating. I couldn't stop reading once I started, it sucked me in and I found myself so invested in this book I just couldn't stop no matter how painful it was. I sat there balling like a baby. I have never had a book break my heart so much and fill it with love all at the same time. Kate and Damian's story was one like no others I have ever read before. I loved Kate's character and how she was so brave and strong even when she was falling apart. Damian my god I don't even know what to say about him other then my heart truly broke for him I don't know how he survived with all the pain he has seen in his short lifetime.
This is one of those books that touches your heart and you will never forget reading it. Dont miss out on this book. You will regret it if you do!

Excerpt
Damian sighed and adjusted his nametag. “I’m the son of Jackson Lowell, Doctor Extraordinaire. That means I have a lot of time to myself. I play the guitar. Write music. I’ve beaten every Assassin’s Creed game. And I don’t live up to my father’s expectations. Hell, I don’t know if I live up to anyone’s expectations.”
“I’m sure your dad just wants you to be happy.”
Damian grunted. “Whose definition of happy? His? Mine?” His eyebrows rose. “Yours?”
I shrugged. “Doesn’t happy only have one definition?”
“Does it? Are you happy?”
I thought about it for a few moments. I had beaten my disease twice before, and I was determined to do it again. More than anything, I was happy just to be alive. “Yeah, I am.”
His eyes narrowed. “Having a tube sticking out of your chest, being hooked up to toxic drugs, getting sick—that makes you happy?”
“Oh, well, no. But…”
“Not that easy, is it?” The edge in his voice pricked at me. I couldn’t tell if he was talking about me or himself.
“The outcome of—”
“You don’t know the outcome.” He sounded angry, his eyes blazing. “You only hope it will make you happy. When it might kill you. That’s reality.”
I pulled my lips tight. “True, but it makes my parents happy to see me fight.”
“Bullshit. They’re not happy having a daughter who has to battle cancer. And if you die, well, how can they be happy about that?”
“If—”
Damian cut me off. “Yeah. If. So much is based on that word, and there are no fucking guarantees attached to it. What makes you happy now may be what destroys you later. Or those you love. Then what? Sometimes, being happy isn’t worth the risk.”
“And sometimes it is,” I said quietly.
Damian brightened again, offering a slight smile. “See what I mean? Nothing in this shithole life is easy.”
“Just because it’s not easy, doesn’t mean it’s not worth it.”
“So tell me then, is it worth it?” His blue eyes searched mine. “Worth all the time in this place?”

About the Author

Hey! Thanks for stopping by!

Since I was born and raised in Iowa, I like to create stories where my home state is the setting. There's nothing like small-town Midwest scenery to create the perfect backdrop for an amazing tale!

I've always loved to read and write. I'll read anything: Classics, fantasy, contemporary, mystery, horror. It doesn't matter as long as it draws me in. As a kid, I was raised on authors such as Lurlene McDaniel, R.L. Stine, Danielle Steele, Mary Higgins Clark, Stephen King, and Shakespeare.

Writing-wise, my fondness lies in the YA/NA genre, though I do have a couple of women's fiction stories swimming around in my head.

When not writing, I'm usually curled up with a book, scrapbooking, or doing yet another load of laundry.

Along with her incredible husband, I live in small-town Iowa with my four adorable (yet ornery) children and their dog, Peaches.

The Spirit is the first book of The Spirit Trilogy, and is my debut novel.

We returned to the hotel after midnight and I immediately drew him a hot bath, adding bubbles from the upscale toiletry collection, and he let out a long sigh as he sank slowly into it, gazing at me expectantly as I hovered over him.

“You come, cariño?” he asked, gesturing for me to join him, and my pussy immediately jumped to attention.

I sat on the toilet and hurriedly removed my sandals and ripped off the tank top, my pulse racing as it always did when his luscious eyes turned seductive and mischievous.

“You do naked dance, mi amor?” he asked.

“Striptease,” I corrected, laughing, and he flicked bubbles in my direction, grinning boyishly.

“You do striptease?”

The suggestion made me hotter and I slowed down. I slid the jeans leisurely over my behind, turned away from him and bent over, giving him a good, long look at my ass in the skimpy thong as I wriggled out of the pants.

“Fantástico,” he murmured, and I spun to face him, fluffing my hair so it fell wildly around my face.

Then I slid my index fingers inside the panties, tracing them along my hip and the apex of my sex, and I plunged a hand inside, touching myself and licking my lips, enticing him with my tongue, and his eyes practically bugged out of their sockets.

I smiled to myself. My first striptease and it turned me on as much as it did him, my slit dripping with juices and my clit plumping and pulsing, and if I’d wanted, I could’ve made myself come in an instant.

I moaned softly, deliberately, and moved my hands up to my breasts, skimming the lacy fabric. I unhooked the bra and held it close to my chest, my hips swaying suggestively, and then I flung it at him.

He snatched it out of the air, his coordination soccer perfect, as was he. Delicious, tantalizingly hot, the bubbles swirling around his rib cage as he smiled his uniquely crooked smile and gazed lovingly at me with his soft chocolate eyes.

He was enjoying himself and so was I, and it was impossible not to love him.

I shimmied my tits in his face, making a show of it, and his hands reached for them, but I backed away.

“Mi amor, come with me,” he appealed.

And I did, quickly peeling off the thong and sliding into the tub. I straddled him and he grasped the nape of my neck, gently drawing me in for a kiss, his tongue passionate, loving and intense, a slow sultry dance. I drowned in that kiss, swept under by a–

The lock clicked. Baba was back. I silently cursed him, wanting to remain in the past, wanting to stay with Mikel. I remained immobile and kept my eyes closed, and I felt him looming over me, sensed the stark light streaming from the ceiling and smelled cigarette smoke.

Review

Tumbleweed was one of those books I didn't know if I was going to like it when I first started reading it, but the more and more I read the more it pulled me in. At first I really didn't like Haley to much, I mean I didn't hate her but wasn't to fond of her either. Haley has been through so much in her life, and a lot of them changed her and not in a good way. Some of it is brutal and horrible sad, but there are other parts that show you a little bit of light.

I enjoyed how Julia Bramer jumped back and forth from past and present, it was done nicely so I didn't feel as if it was to much information thrown in one story. After about 25ish % I was stuck and could not put it down. The ending seemed a tad bit rushed but it was a good ending non the less.

EXCERPT

“Anytime, Leah, we’re family now, right?” I assure her. You can lean on me anytime.

“Yeah…right…family,” she almost whispers it to herself.

I sit, leaning against the wall with my knees propped up, watching her hang up the clothes I bought Dani today. She sorts them between short sleeve, long sleeve, and sweaters, and then color-codes them. She neatly places the shoes on the floor of the closet and then puts the pajamas into the dresser drawer. So precise and organized it makes me want to throw her down and kiss her senseless. Let her know it’s okay to be a mess sometimes and see what could happen when she unwinds a little.

“Adam, this was so nice. I really could have handled her clothes, but thank you.” She turns her head to look over her shoulder and smiles at me. My heart rate increases simply from the happiness I brought her.

“I told you, she’s my niece, too. I could barely find something warm enough for her to wear today in that suitcase.”

“I know, but you went to really nice stores. It must have cost you a small fortune.”

“Well, I know women like the expensive stuff.” She turns around and scrunches her forehead, but quickly smirks.

“True, but sometimes you would be amazed what you find in a sale’s bin.” Please, tell me I’m not what she considers some dollar store deal. She walks over to me and sits cross-legged across from me, taking in the transformed room. “It looks like a little girl room, right?” she asks.

“Definitely, just put a no boys sign outside, and it’s complete,” I joke, and she joins me.

“Good, it’s just when I came in here earlier, and she was putting those pictures up, I figured she needed a space that was hers. I’m beginning to think she’s never had her own space.” The love she feels for Dani lights up her eyes, making my heart open even more for her.
